Tickling the Key's

The talented and gorgeous Ms. Alicia Keys recently released a corrected version of her new album artwork, entitled The Element of Freedom set to be released on Dec.15th. Despite my recent comments stating that AK is beginning to sound the same as her previous tracks and albums, the "princess of r&b soul" is delivering a complete album with the very elements that made us fall in love with her several years ago. She ignites her album with the infectious and chart topping single, "Doesn't Mean Anything" and plans to ride the success of the regional/universal classic, "Empire State of Mind" with a follow-up "Empire State of Mind part2." I highly encourage YOU to go out and pick this album up when it drops...I'm sure you won't be disappointed. If all else fails, just give it to your girl (lol).

Freaky Friday

Here I am, sitting at work thinking about all the events that have happened this week in my personal life and also through the media. I thank God for the people around me and throughout the world that evoke every emotion in me on my day to day journey for greatness. Allow me to RANT, and express my random thoughts at the moment.

• First and foremost, welcome back to my lil bro Kelz....the kid returned from a journey to London, England and I am VERY jealous. Not only did he beat me to the punch with the trip, he brought back some amazing pieces of "swag" that I might have to take from him (despite the drastic size difference)
• Make sure you go and BUY 3 of the hottest albums that have dropped in the past week. Wale -Attention Deficit, Melanie Fiona - The Bridge, and Ryan Leslie - Transition. Shoutout to the those artists that are making REAL music and who know how to own the stage when they perform.
• I don't know if it's just me but doesn't Alicia Keys seem to replicate her music with every album. Seriously, to me it seems as if ALL of her songs sound exactly the same. #noshade
• The holiday season has arrived, and I am not mentally prepared for the tomfoolery that is those ignorant Black Friday shoppers.... I mean seriously, do you have to push my dear old aunt into the garden section just to grab the Tickle Me Elmo at Walmart...OMG!
• Today is Friday the 13Th, but do you really believe in superstition in your adult life?!
• Tonight marks a new beginning for my boy ____(name omitted) who's been fam for years....tonight is the night he shows himself to the world as one of the newest initiates in the Bloody Rho chapter of Omega Psi Phi at Johnson C. Smith... I'm proud of you my boy, its been a LONG time coming.

Lastly, even know this gets old...I HAVE to thank you all for supporting this blog and the Society even when we are being lazy and don't post for a few days. Thanks for the continued support and I promise you that we will be taking this blog to new heights VERY soon. The only thing that I need from YOU, the reader is to spread the word to all your friends and check us out daily. Special shoutout to Upchuck and DJ R.Dot...can't wait for yall boys to get to the Queen City so we can take thing up a notch around here!

After suffering a loss and closing its door's due to the recession, VIBE Magazine is relaunching its publication and also helping the troubled star, Chris Breezy relaunch his career. Hitting newstands next month, VIBE is planning on picking up where it left off. Let's GO!

Moment of Silence

Moment of silence for the 12 plus killed, and 31 wounded in the shooting on the Fort Hood military base in Texas this week. I took the time to investigate and uncover some information on the topic and I am truly disgusted. The shooter, 39 year old Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, psychiatrist for the U.S. Army, was said to have been "mortified" by reports of being deployed. After dealing with soldiers suffering for PTSD (post traumatic stess disorder), Hasan feared going through the same issues upon returning. Also, Maj. Hasan had issues concerning deployment in relation to his nationality, being of Muslim descent. After feeling like there were zero options for him at that time, Major Hasan took it upon himself to go on a shooting spree on the largest active duty military base in the United States. It is said that he is in custody at this time, given the fact that he is also injured in the hospital.

Society, never take life for granted for we do NOT know when disaster or uncontrollable events will occur. If you are having negative feelings or anxiety about an issue, find a way to channel your thoughts and behaviors into positive by talking with family or friends, or even calling a support group or counselor.

Please pray for the families of those that were injured and effected by this tragedy....
